Living Now is a mindset that cancer patients, caregivers, friends, and family can utilize to cope with a cancer diagnosis. For me as a patient, I discuss how Living Now impacted and continues to impact my journey.

What does Living Now mean for cancer patients?

When I was diagnosed with cancer my life changed. I started wondering why or what did I do to cause this and how will this affect my life All of these thoughts put me into a deep depression.  I realized after weeks of depression that I needed to concentrate on the present moment since that is all we have instead of living in the past or worrying about the future.  I started reading about the concepts of Living Now and living in the present which gave me peace of mind and the will to live my life and move forward.  I hope this mindset will help encourage and help other cancer patients, caregivers, friends, and family that are struggling to find the peace that I found by living in the present.

Living Now

Life is just a series of present moments. Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have. Make the NOW the primary focus of your life. Our past and future are mental simulations. We are living in the past when we remember, relieve or regret. We are living in the future when we worry, imagine or hope.

All pain is a result of resistance to the things we cannot change. To understand the pain, one must first experience it. From struggle comes strength, even pain can be a great teacher. Therefore, it’s very important to identify it first. We can free ourselves from pain by constantly observing our minds and not judging our thoughts.

The cancer battle is difficult for all involved and it is my hope that this information will provide helpful thought-provoking ideas.
