Friends and Family
Friends and family play an important role in your cancer journey. They provide support, advice, prayers, strength and many other necessary things to help you. Both friends and family fall into different categories.
- have gone through cancer and can provide their knowledge
- really do not know what to say and end up with statements like “You Look Good”
- will offer advice or let you know of every cancer cure that comes out even if it does not relate to your cancer
- are good support for any problem you have
- know everything and will let you know what you should do even if you do not want their input
- call you often to see how you are
- avoid you because you have cancer
- treat you like you have the plague
Remember that friends and family can provide input, but you have the right to make the decisions about your path forward and treatment. There is not a correct or right path. Whatever you decide it is your decision. Do not let others that do not agree with you bring you down. Surround yourself with good friends and family members that will support you. You will make new friends during the journey and lose some old friends.
